An Ode To Mom! Mother’s Day 2015

 5-Best-Sayings-On-Happy-Mothers-Day-2015-With-Images1

This upcoming Sunday, May 10th, is a special day to women all over the world… Any guesses what it could be?

It’s Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day is a celebration in which we honor mothers, motherhood, maternal bonds and the influence of mothers in society.

Although, this day is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, here in the United States, we know it to be celebrated on the second Sunday in May.

Mother’s Day began in the United States in the early 20th century.  The holiday was first celebrated in 1908 when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother in Grafton, West Virginia.  She then began a campaign to make “Mother’s Day” a recognized holiday in the United States, which became successful in 1914. Anna Jarvis’ holiday was adopted by other countries and its now celebrated all over the world.

So, this Mother’s Day, be sure to tell your mother, grandmother, or maternal figure just how special they are to you.  From picking up our clothes off the floor, to being the shoulder we can lean on, Moms are the real deal (and make it look so easy!)

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us here at Sharn Enterprises.

Why “American Made” Matters

America is known as the land of the free and home of the brave.  As Americans, we are lucky to be able to pursue our dreams, and that’s exactly what Arnold (Arnie) Werner, founder of Sharn Enterprises, Inc. did.

An Army sergeant serving in Germany and France in the 1940s, Arnie saw first hand the opportunities offered in America compared to other countries.   Shaped by his experiences while overseas as well as his own independent spirit, Arnie started Sharn Enterprises, Inc. out of his garage in 1974.

Arnie

During this time, the U.S. was still a manufacturing leader.  Arnie felt that American quality, labor, and value were still the best in the world. Years later as America began slowly to change to a service economy, he resisted the temptation to import his products, favoring American workers, American materials, and their inherent quality.

While importing goods has become more of the norm since then, Sharn’s current management still holds true to the values championed by Arnie years ago, and Sharn continues as “a proud American manufacturer.”

American-Made

We find it important to let our customers know our legacy and that all of our materials are Made-in-America and that we build them in house.  Our customers keep coming back because they know that they are receiving a one of a kind, American product.  Here are more reasons why “American Made” matters:

Job Creation & Support of Small Businesses

American people spending American dollars on American products equals American jobs.  It’s a win-win for all parties involved.  If every American spent an extra $3.33 on American-made products, it would create almost 10,000 new jobs.  If every builder used just 5 % more American-made products, it would create 220,000 jobs!  By using US made products, you are helping to secure future business within America.

Human Rights & Fair Wages

Many exporting countries do not have the strict regulations for working conditions like the United States.  By keeping our dollars in the US, we are not supporting the sometimes terrible working conditions that may occur in other places. When you choose American made, you contribute to the payment of “an honest day’s wage for an honest day’s work.”

Furthermore, many countries do not have minimum wage restrictions, or the minimum wage is outrageously low.  You can be confident that American consumer protection laws and safety standards are upheld in order to protect you and your family, whereas in foreign countries there are child laborers and the product may not be built up to code.

We are one of the few countries with regulated wages, which will also help to preserve our economy and create jobs for those living in the U S of A!

US Manufacturing = More Jobs!

Each manufacturing job creates an additional 5-8 jobs.  Manufacturing also supports an estimated 17.6 million jobs in the United States—about one in six private-sector jobs. More than 12 million Americans (or 9 percent of the workforce) are employed directly in manufacturing.

The Environment

US manufacturing processes are typically cleaner for the environment than in other countries.  Many products that are produced and sold in other countries are made using dangerous chemicals that pollute our environment and are also made with hazardous chemicals.  When you purchase American products, you know that you’re helping to keep the world a little cleaner for not only your children but for your own safety as well.

Quality

Many people look to overseas in order to buy cheaper products, but often lower pricing equals lower quality.  Furthermore, a US made product can be received faster and more efficiently than importing.  More than 80% of people said they pay attention to whether a product is labeled “Made in the USA,” and 76% said they would be more likely to buy something with that designation.

All in all, when you buy American, you keep American dollars on US soil, leading to a more thriving economy.  Sharn not only supports the American made promise, we follow through with it.

Presidents’ Day 2015

Presidents Day

With Presidents’ Day today, Monday, February 16th, we need to all take a step back and think what Presidents’ Day is all about.  Yes, most of us view it as a day off school or off work, but what is the real meaning behind Presidents’ Day?

Presidents’ Day was established back in 1885.  Surprisingly enough, it was not always known as “Presidents’ Day”.  This day was originally created to honor George Washington’s birthday and was celebrated on his exact birthday, February 22nd.  This became the first holiday to celebrate the life of an individual American that is classified as a national federal bank holiday.  The date did not become known as ‘Presidents’ Day until after it was moved as part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which was an attempt to create more three-day weekend’s for the nation’s workers.  Although the third Monday in February is still listed as “Washington’s birthday” on official calendars, Presidents’ Day is now known as a day to celebrate all United States Presidents, past and present.  Presidents’ Day is used by many patriotic and historical groups as a date for staging celebrations, reenactments, and other such events.

presidents-day

Many states require that their public schools spend the days leading up to Presidents’ Day teaching their students about the accomplishments of the presidents, often with the focus on the lives of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, who happen to be the most recognized leaders.  Abraham Lincoln is often named the number one most influential president due to his actions leading to the abolition of slavery.  Lincoln is then followed by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, with his recognition in leadership throughout World War II and his hard work to end the Great Depression.  The third most influential president known is, George Washington for becoming the first president of the United States, setting the precedents that would be later followed by other presidents.

So, from here at Sharn Enterprises, Inc, we encourage everyone to remember and celebrate the past and present presidents of the United States this Presidents’ Day.

After all, we are a proud American manufacturer!

The Sharn Advantage

Why you should choose Sharn for your product display needs

Because of our 35 years of experience in the POP  industry, we can provide your business with more economical ways to manufacture displays.  This results in lower costs to you, while giving you exactly what you want to promote to your brand.

While we realize that cost is an important factor, so is maximizing the space that your retailer allows you to have.  Because your display will be custom-made for your specific product, it will allow for the maximum amount of items in the smallest space possible, which in turn will yield a positive return on investment (ROI).

Sharn offers free design assistance as well as nominally priced prototyping services.  We offer a wide array of materials, and eye-popping colors, in every size imaginable.  All displays are manufactured in our plant, and custom-made specifically for you.  Obviously, you won’t get that with “standard” stock displays.

Your display will arrive in as little as 3 to 4 weeks.   You can also order smaller quantities of what you need, resulting in less investment, and less time on your part.

We are a proud U.S. manufacturer, and a “privately owned” company who can offer you unique flexibility regarding lead times, pricing and terms.  Sharn is “Made in the USA” at its finest.

To get an idea of what we can do for you, please visit our website at http://www.SharnDisplays.com or call us at (815) 464-9715.

Give us a try, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
